Honey Large Female Shepherd / Mix Located in McKinney
Hello, pleased to meet you! My name is Honey. I'm a 3-year old, 51-pound red Shepherd mix. I came to the SPCA of Texas on February 15 because my previous family had too many animals. I know that the wonderful staff and volunteers here at the shelter will make sure I find the perfect forever home for me. So let me tell you a little about myself. I've been told that I have the most soulful eyes. You'll notice that every time you pet me. I really enjoy being petted and will sit perfectly still for you. And then when you stop, I'll gently and politely nudge your hand with my head to let you know I'd like more. I also like to bury my head in your arm so that you can pet me. I'm what you would call a calm and cuddly dog. I've been a little shy while at the shelter simply because it's a new environment for me, but I assure you, I'm as sweet as they come. My previous owner noted that I am very affectionate and polite. I also know several commands, including sit, stay and come. I lived outdoors at my previous home, so I'm really looking forward to a new one where I can lounge around and snuggle with my people. I'm quite the cuddle bug. Also, I don't like being left alone outside for long periods of time. I just really want to be with the family! I recently completed heartworm treatment at the SPCA of Texas and am on restricted activity for a few weeks. My previous owner also noted that I am completely housebroken, but I might need a little refresher on that after being in the shelter environment. I'm crate-trained and I walk well on a leash. I can be pretty picky about my canine friends, so I'd probably do best in a home where I'm the only dog. Also, I'll need to go to a home without livestock and cats. What can I say - I just want to be your one and only! I've been spayed, microchipped and have received all age-appropriate vaccinations.
