Name: Candi
ID: 42873119
Breed: Shepherd / Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: 3 years 10 months
Size: Large
Location: Awaiting Foster
ABOUT ME: I came to the SPCA of Texas in the fall of 2019 as part of a cruelty case - there were at least 20 other dogs in my home! That means I never learned how to interact with strangers or adjust to new environments. It's been a lot of work, but with familiar people, I'm learning to trust them more and take treats.

MY HOME: Should be a calm, quiet place with a securely fenced yard and a canine companion to show me the ropes! I love other dogs and yours will be a big help in helping me learn to trust and become more confident. Here at the shelter, I like to follow other dogs around.

KIDS: I'd like the humans in my home to be 15 and up, please!

MEDICAL NOTE: I am heartworm positive and have started the process for treatment. I will need to come back for treatment 9/14, 10/12, and 10/13.

SPECIAL NOTE: While Candi is not yet available for adoption, she is eligible for foster-to-adopt!

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
