ABOUT ME: I came to the SPCA of Texas back in February as part of a case with a whole lot of other doggos. The world is new and scary, but I've made a lot of progress! I've discovered that the world also has many snacks and that's pretty awesome.

PERSONALITY: Hi there, I'm Nelson! I'm a pretty laid back dude who needs help learning how to be a dog in the real world. I wasn't so sure about petting at first, but the humans have helped me learn that it's actually pretty cool to get scritchy scratchies, especially on my neck and chest. I don't know how to walk on leash yet, but I do LOVE treats, so lots of yummy tidbits might help me learn how to do that. I'm overwhelmed in the shelter environment and have shown staff that I'm much more comfortable hanging out in our "real life room" so I think a "real life home" would help me flourish even more!

HOUSING: I require a house with a securely fenced yard and a calm and quiet environment.

DOGS: No thank you!

KIDS: Adults only please. Every member of the household needs to meet me before I can go home.

SPECIAL NOTE: Adopters get to take me on a test run before making it official! SPCA staff will provide all medical and behavioral support during our trial run to help me adjust to my new home.

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
