Kira
No Small Kids
Name: Kira
ID: 45541264
Breed: English Mastiff / Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: 7 years 7 months
Size: X-Large
Location: Awaiting Foster
ABOUT ME: My friends and I came to the SPCA of Texas through a cruelty case, and I was a bit timid when I arrived. I've made good progress since being rescued and now I'm ready to find my forever family!

PERSONALITY: Shy, but sweet! I love snacks and will sometimes be brave if you have a treat in your hand.

MEDICAL: Kira has Chronic Renal Insufficiency. This is also called Chronic Renal Failure. It cannot be fixed, and it will likely be progressive. She is in the early stages - her kidneys are not concentrating well nor excreting wastes normally, but overall she is still playful, interactive, and holding her weight. She does drink more than "normal" for a 165 pounds dog, and she will produce more urine since her kidneys are not concentrating urine normally. She is not currently on any oral medications however, she is on a very strict special diet which she loves!

DREAM HOME: I'm looking for a calm, quiet household with a securely fenced in yard. I'd love for my family to be mellow, because that is what this golden girl needs!

DOGS: Bring them by the shelter to meet me.

KIDS: I'm on the hunt for a 15+ household- bring the whole family to meet me!

SPECIAL NOTE: I am a Fospice pup - that means you get to love me for the rest of my life and the SPCA of Texas will provide my care! Not able to commit long term? You can also just foster me temporarily while I wait for my forever fospice home!

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
