About Me: My name is Pistol and I am a shy and gentle giant. I came to the SPCA very scared and nervous, but I am learning how to trust people and I'm ready to go home with you! I am interested in snuggling up to people now, especially if you bring treats. I'm also a a huge fan of sun bathing!

Dream Home: My ideal home would be calm and relaxing. I'm doing well with learning how to walk on a leash, but I still get a bit overwhelmed sometimes. Because of this, I need a home with a securely fenced in yard, though a very low traffic apartment might be okay if there is a designated walk area for me. Due to my history of fearful behavior, I need a home without young children. I will need to meet anyone in the home 12 and up so I can be sure I'll be comfortable with my housemates. I think that some dogs are pretty okay- I just need to meet them before I go home with you to ensure a proper match!

Dogs: Okay, but a meet and greet is required.

Kids: 12 and older please, and a meet and greet is required.

Special Note: While I am not ready for adoption I am eligible for FOSTER-TO-ADOPT

Foster Reason: I am undergoing heartworm treatment, so I will need a nice calm home while I am on exercise restriction! This means short leash walks only and no running around!

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
