Name: Dusty
ID: 47020259
Breed: Terrier, American Pit Bull / Mix
Gender: Neutered Male
Age: 5 years 1 month
Size: X-Large
Location: Awaiting Foster
About Me: Hi, my name is Dusty, and I am deaf. I am a sweet boy, looking for a loving fospice home. I am not one that enjoys having my legs or feet touched. I am on a special diet to help me loose weight, but my special food can be used as treats.

Foster Reason: I had tumor that was surgically removed, and came back as hemangiosarcoma (cancer). This is a very aggressive type of cancer, and likely that it will return in the near future. According to the pathology report from my tumor, the hemangiosarcoma has a tumor progression of 116 days and overall survival time of 172 days. Unfortunately with this type of tumor, only 25% survived to 1 year.

Foster Length: I am a Fospice pup- that means you get to love me for the rest of my life and the SPCA of Texas will provide my care! However, it is an option to foster me temporarily until a forever Fospice can be found.

Medical Needs: I am not currently on any medications, but I am on a special diet. I will need to be fed this diet only. I will also need to come back to the SPCA once a month for a weight recheck. My fospice family will also need to monitor me, especially my previous mass removal sites, for regrowth of tumors or any new tumors that occur.

Foster Home: I am not to picky about my foster home. But a home with a securely fenced yard is ideal.

Kids: No children under the edge of 5 for me, meet and greet required for all other children.

Dogs: Sure, bring them in for a meet and greet with me.

Special Note: Dusty is a Fospice pup- that means you get to love her for the rest of her life while she remains a part of our foster program! The SPCA of Texas will provide all of her supplies, medication, care and behavioral support! It is also an option to foster him temporarily until a forever Fospice can be found.

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
