Name: Sara
ID: 47634138
Breed: Retriever, Labrador / Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: 8 months
Size: Large
Location: Awaiting Foster
About me: Hi I'm Sara, I came in as a stray through Ellis with 4 other siblings. I am very fearful, and was likely feral prior to being brought in. However I have made a lot of improvement and have been warming up to people once I get to know them better.

Foster Length: I'm looking for a minimum 8 week commitment but ultimately hope to stay in foster until I'm adopted.

Foster Home: I'll need a calm and quiet environment. Adults only preferred, but some homes w/o kids under the age of 15 may be considered. I'll need a house with a securely fenced yard as I'm still working on my leash confidence

DOGS: I show a lot of interest in other dogs and get excited to see them! I'll require a friendly and confident dog in the home that I can learn from.

Medical: My front paws may look a little strange due to a condition called Carpal Laxity Syndrome, where my carpal joints are hyperextended. This is expected to resolve in a few weeks to a few months, as I use my legs more.

Special Note: While I'm not yet ready for adoption, I'm available for foster-to-adopt! Fill out an app today for more information.

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
