Taz
No Small Kids
Name: Taz
ID: 46632538
Breed: Domestic Shorthair / Mix
Gender: Male
Age: 12 years 3 months
Size: Small
Location: Awaiting Foster
About Taz/Foster Reason: Taz is a geriatric cat with multiple serious medical conditions: Underweight, anemic, elevated liver enzymes, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, advanced dental disease. Despite multiple medical conditions, Taz currently has a good quality of life. He eats well and loves interacting with people. However, it will likely not be too long before his quality of life becomes poor (could be weeks to months).

Medical Schedule: Taz is due back every 2-4 weeks for rechecks and labs.

Foster Home: Taz needs a calm and quiet environment while he continues to acclimate foster parents. They will need to have the availability to bring him back to the shelter regularly for he (bi)monthly rechecks and be comfortable with administering regular oral medications and subcutaneous fluids (the staff at SPCA will show you how to do this).

Foster Length: I am a Fospice cat - that means you get to love me for the rest of my life and the SPCA of Texas will provide my care! However, it is an option to foster me temporarily until a forever Fospice can be found.

Kids: No children under the age of 12 years.

Special Note: I am a Fospice cat - that means you get to love me for the rest of my life and the SPCA of Texas will provide my care! However, it is an option to foster me temporarily until a forever Fospice can be found.

The SPCA of Texas completes rigorous medical and behavioral testing on every animal in our care. The organization fully discloses all known medical and/or behavioral conditions, including any incidents of biting or violent behavior toward a human, to all adopters and fosters. Despite the rigorous testing our veterinary and behavioral professionals conduct throughout every animal’s stay in our facilities, other new and/or unknown medical and/or behavioral conditions may manifest in any animal at any time. By adopting or fostering an animal from the SPCA of Texas, adopters and fosters acknowledge at the time of adoption or fostering that they may receive an animal with an undetected medical and/or behavioral condition and/or that a new medical and/or behavioral condition may appear at any time in the future. Any pet adopted from the SPCA of Texas can be returned to us at any time for any reason at no cost.
